Why are people so concerned over other people’s kids? Why is it your business whether someone has their son circumcised or not, whether they’re breast fed, whether they co-sleep with their parents, use cotton or disposable diapers, etc?

It’s not your fucking kid so save your opinions on parenting for your own, because that’s when it’ll matter.

Circumcision is not about baby penises, dear, it is about the human right to bodily autonomy. Parents do not own their children, their son’s bodies, their penises or their sexuality. Removing  healthy, functioning, nerve-rich tissue from a child for no immediate medical indication is profoundly unethical. 

Now in the U.S. we’ve convinced ourselves it’s no big deal, boys don’t care, and parents can make choices regarding their children’s bodies. In the U.S. stories of boys dying go largely untold in the media, or they’re glossed over like it’s some rarity. Stories of botched circumcision and the great harm that has been done to our men go untold. 

That’s why people care about circumcision. It has nothing to do with parenting; it has everything to do with human rights. 

Also, breastfeeding is a public health issue, and women should be educated on the benefits of breastfeeding. However, that’s a personal decision made by the woman alone.

Another thing, disposable diapers fill our landfills, our oceans, and leak toxic chemicals into the groundwater. They are unsustainable as they come from petroleum based products. This is something largely ignored, but being a dick about disposables is counter-productive.

Most importantly, let’s educate and empower people to make the best choices possible so this next generation of humans have peaceful beginnings and maybe a clean planet to inhabit as well.
