Because Sometimes More is More

i fucking hate this. my son may need to be circumcised for medical reasons.so does this mean i risk my son being in pain? or risk the infections my doctor has warned may happen when he’s older?i’m sure my son will love it if i ignore what the doctors have told me just so he can live his life uncomfortably for how ever many years it takes him to be mature enough for the decision.thanks tumblr you once again make me feel bad because you talk shit!

This graphic does not address instances of therapeutic circumcision. The focus is on non-therapeutic circumcision which is comparatively much more often chosen because of the subjective personal preferences of parents and guardians.
I have no qualms with medically necessary circumcision of minors, or adult circumcision for any reason. That said, I believe that the cultural normalization of circumcision leads to it being over-prescribed. In my personal case, I had a circumcision at 12 as treatment for phimosis, but no alternatives were discussed. I am now aware that less drastic options, such as steroidal creams, stretching exercises, and perhaps a longitudinal incision or a less extensive circumcision could have been possible.
