The Circumstraint is a restraining device used to tie down a baby boy during his circumcision surgery. The lucky ones are those that are given an anesthetic and sufficient time for it to take effect. Unfortunately, far too many baby boys are being circumcised without anesthesia and without allowing sufficient time for it to take effect.

I find this photo greatly disturbing. Sorry if this triggers anyone.

Wow. As a man who was circumcised when he was too young to remember, this photo speaks volumes.

My circumcision was around the age of 12 as a treatment of phimosis, and the limited amount of consent that I had is something that I sometimes appreciate, even though the physical damage is presumably the same (or worse, given that my circumcision was done with a “free hand” style that created a prominent and uneven scar).

I also have a lot of respect for young men who have the courage to reveal their dissatisfaction with their own circumcision, given that it’s taken me a lot of time and courage to become as outspoken as I am now.
